You can be fertile immediately after coming off b/c, or it could take several months. It really depends on the individual However, if you're on the Depo shot, it can take years to get back into a regular cycle. For a low-dose pill like Ortho, it's pretty quick (you'll probably be ovulating the first month).
Make sure that you're taking 400mcg of Folic Acid when you stop the b/c. This is the amount normally in a regular multi-vitamin, or you can get Folic Acid tablets for $4 for 250 at CVS. Good luck!!!

from what my doc said and reading whats said on here most people give it about 6 months for all the hormones to be released from their body, for some people it might be longer for some not so long.

Ok, I was wondering the same question 3 month ago (and now I am pregnant). So the deal is that doctors and books tell you to stop the birth control, wait a month, get your own real periods and then try to conceive. Apparently, when you stop taking it, you are super fertile. I did exactly that I now I am 6 weeks pregnant. You can try right away but it harder for the doctors to figure out your due date if you get pregnant right away. So good luck to you. I wish you the best.

I was on a low-dose pill and my doctor said it would leave my system 24 hours after stopping it. She was right!

you should stop taking your pills for a year before you start trying to conceive.
