to be honest with you im not even sure why it is a problem.. alot of people frown upon it and i think thats wrong personally i think its a personal choice for a teen unless its rape but thats why there abortions.. im 17 and pregnant.. and alothough it wasnt planned i am okay with it .. im with my boyfriend of two years and i live with him and we are stable .. so why should that be a problem,... most teens who get pregnant finish school and even go to college or are in college and finish,.. i think its all contraversy .. why why why does it matter to older people or even teens themselves they have teeen thats pregnant in their school and its like oh they must be a whore.. or blah blah they dont know what that persons story of backround is.. like why does it even matter to other people just because we are pregnant and young doesnt make us irresponsible not every teen cant think or themselves.. age doesnt matter when it comes to having children its all about maturity level.. there are alot of immature teens who accidentially become pregnant and they get an abortion or consider adoption or do the MATURE thing and raise the child and become mature and have responsibility.. doesnt matter how many times you ask this question you will have rude people on her saying how irresponsible teens are. they are wrong... and rude.

because teens arent even old enough to take care of themselves.
theres alot more to life and you have to build a future to support your children and make there childhood memorable.

Teens have more to worry about than having kids.
They need to get through school and colege, establish credit and work experience, and start whole lives for themselves...

Because they'd rather get pregnant then caught by the store clerk and other customers buying condoms or some sort of protection. Or they're to ditzy to understand how to take their pills. I've known a couple that forgot or ran out but didn't have more in stock just in case.

its not.
im 23 weeks pregnant and im 15.
i dont see any reason why i shouldnt have my baby just because im younger than the normal average mom.
my pregnancy wasnt planned but im not going to have an abortion because i will be able to cope with school, work and a baby.

Do you mean why is it occuring, or why is it considered to be a problem?

Why is it occuring? Because teens are bombarded with images of sex everywhere they turn, their hormones are raging, and they don't think about consequences or repercussions. They have unprotected sex and the result is pregnancy. Some use or attempt to use birth control but either use it improperly or it fails.

Why is it considered a problem that teens become pregnant? Their bodies are still growing and pregnancy puts a huge toll on a woman, so it's bad timing physically...not to mention VERY few teens are capable of raising a child (financially, emotionally, etc) so it usually falls on other family members to do the bulk of that if they keep the child, and/or they go on some form of "assistance" which others pay for. IMO if you can't afford the consequences of your actions, then don't take action.

Because teens are ill-equipped to handle the stresses of being a parent. They also do not have the ability to provide for a child. Children are expensive: there is clothing, diapers, medical care, food, shelter, and unconditional love. Teens generally don't have jobs that can pay the rent, utilities, food, transportation, and health insurance.

Babies raising babies is a problem for all of society and causes issues for wholesome long term relationships between child and parent.

When teens grow up and can handle making an income, paying the bills on time and are ready for the challenges of being a parent they should then consider having children. Teens get pregnant because they think more of themselves and the few moments of passion than the long term results of their actions.

hi im ashley and i am a sophmore in highschool i am 18 weeks pregnant and i also dont see why its a big problem yes its getting more common. i just hate when these crazy people say that teens can't even take care of themselves exscuse me i know plenty of people at 16 and 17 that something dramatic has happened and they have raised themselves and sometimes there other siblings.i have had a great paying job at 15 and my soon to be husband has a great paying job, yes its gonna be hard but isn't pregnancy and a child always hard i mean just because you have lots of money or are 30 yrs old dosent mean that your child wont have something wrong with it or that something dramastic wont happen to you or your child. i mean i took the measures that any woman would i told my boyfriend and family i made sure my insurance would cover me i got on WICK i made my doctors appointment and i have taken my vitames every day. i have already started buying things. i mean i can provide for myself and i can provide for this baby now now it may not be old navy or gap clothes but it will be new nice clothes. i mean my boyfriend does work he is a legal age and he does drive. i mean ppl are so hypacritical. so when it comes to my oppion no its not wrong or bad because mine was by chance not choice because i was taken antibotics with birth control and it conteracted my birth control. so to me its not bad or wrong.

To begin intercourse/sex/making love is something the GOD intended to be for marriage only.
Now most teens are not mature enough to handle the responsibility of being a parent. It's a HUGE responsibility to care for a child day and night for 18 or more years.
Most teens have NO idea the cost of raising a child, right. Food, diapers, clothes, health care etc. Sure they could live off the welfare system but is that really right? The system wasn't designed to support teens who want to go out and have sex possibly to get pregnant and let everyone's tax dollar take care of them.
Now on the other side. If a teen is married, (17 or 18) and then becomes pregnant...chances are they are in a stable relationship with a mature (hopefully) husband who is financially taking care of them.
On a different side...in case of rape...abortion is NOT the only alternative. Placing a child in a home with those wishing to become parents and can't is the best option in my opinion. The child conceived, even in the most horrific case of rape, is life..created by God. There is a purpose for that life plan and simple.
To sum it all up: most teens just aren't responsible enough to be parents.....live life, enjoy life, find your purpose and save the parenting for when there's a steady relationship and not one created to be supported by others.

Its a problem due to the fact the so many teens after getting pregnant will never finish school, and while this may seem trivial a good education is vital to your future and just your self worth - it is also a fact that most teen mothers will not hold a decent job and will spend half of their life on welfare and living below means, this places the burden on society.
Imagine - if all the teens last year did NOT get pregnant and either terminated, gave up forr adoption, and or kept the child - I would imagine most fo those (85% or better) were paid for by a free clinic or state medical or some other non profit that is supported by taxes and doantions. Last year about 700,000 teens got pregnant. Lets just say 1/2 of that was unwanted pregnancy at $3,000 a pop thats 1.05 BILLION dollars just imagine what that money could do and not to mention the 100 million dollares spent on "education" and awareness - a billion dollars back into the economy would feed hungry people and help with situations that really need help. Help that Farmer get in one more season of crops so the bank wont forclose on his house - a billion dollars would buy the 9,000 families still left homeless from Hurricane Katrina a place to live. It just spirals out from there. The above number does not include the yearly docotor bills assume at least another 500 million its a lot of money going out with no replacement.

My point is there are a lot of issues that can be said -/ Yes there are several situations that "work out" and I am glad for that I guess my other point is If your going to have Sex and you get pregnant STEP UP and be responsible do everythinginyour power to have a GREAT life for you and your child, its your child they deserve the best you can give them. >dont be a burden on society, and dont be a statistic.

This question is the quintessences of why its a problem and I'm certain a teen is responsible for the post. Having a child is a huge life changing responsibility that should be taken on by two secure and stable adults. Not by teens who are still discovering themselves. Very selfish and irresponsible act for a teen to have a child, when in fact giving life and being responsible for another human being should be the most selfless act known to humanity.

Why is it a problem as in for the pregnant teen? Well, it makes it a little difficult to continue going to school when you have to support and take care of a baby, unless they plan on dumping on friends and relatives and the government to share the workload that they have created... otherwise, they get trapped in struggling financially for years and years.

ashleyst up there is an example... she has already applied for "wick" aka WIC, that is support outside of her earnings. A great paying job at 15? wow, might as well stop going to school now, you've got it made! Althugh I would have recommended sticking in school a little longer to get the spelling down, you will need those minimal skills when it comes time to help your kids with homework.

And I'm not saying don't use WIC if you need to, just don't claim to be self sufficient, because that is not being self sufficient.
