Hi all,

I just found out Saturday I was pregnant and had it confirmed through blood test on Monday. The same day, my family practice dr. did a pelvic exam because I thought I had a UTI (symptoms started the day before), and I found out I have bacterial vaginosis today. I was prescribed clindamycin 2% vaginal cream. 1) Is this medication safe for 1st trimester and does it increase the chance of miscarriage? and 2) Does it sound like I caught this early, and again, does it increase the risk of miscarriage? Anybody else have experiences with 1st trimester bac. vaginosis?

My symptoms: Burning like a UTI, feel like I need to pee, and I'm red "down there." Symptoms started on Sunday, so I was prescribed this medication 3 days after it started,.

Help! I just want to be reassured that I will have a healthy baby! I'm scared of miscarriage

Im sure if it weren't safe for you to take this medication the doctor wouldn't have prescribed it to you. I dont think you have anything to worry about. Congrats!!

I have had bacterial vaginosis twice during my current pregnancy. The OB/GYN said it's a side effect of pregnancy. The first time I had a clindamycin suppository and the second time they treated with oral medication. I haven't had any problems. If you leave the infection untreated, you can have problems.
I'm sure you'll be fine. Good luck!

Bacterial Vaginosis is common in pregnancies which is one of the reasons they do a pelvic exam. The prescribed meds are fine as long as they know that you are pregnant.

I just found out today that I have BV too, and I am 10 weeks today. I was also prescribed clindamycin.
After reading up on everything, I am scared too. The internet is not always a good thing. LOL!!
I don't both of our doctors could be wrong.
