And then become pregnant with a second child, so that they are both full term but, 6 months apart?

Not at all. Ovulation stops as soon as you become pregnant.

It is not possible to be pregnant and for your body to release an egg.

YES it is possible to ovulate during pregnancy!!!!!!!!!
6 months apart is highly unlikely, and I doubt they could survive. I guarantee that they will NOT both be full term. I believe the longest difference recorded between two babies born at the same time but conceived 3 1/2 weeks apart.
It's called superfetation, where the body carries on releasing more eggs for fertilization after a pregnancy has already started. It meant that, technically you could have become pregnant again each month during her pregnancy.
EDIT: My god people look it up before you say its not possible.. IT IS POSSIBLE!!!!!!!!!!!

Not possible! Your body stops ovulation due to pregnancy it also causes a cyst to cover your ovaries called corpus luthem to stop ovulation. The cyst goes away after the placenta takes over. Even if you did your cervix are closed and a mucus plug is in place

yes, very rarely but probably not to the extent of 6 months, as when you went into labour with the first the second would be born also and probably wouldnt survive. There was a lady in my town who got pregnant but released an egg after a month which made her pregnant again, but she wasnt classed as having twins, even though they were born within minutes,,,, there is a name for this but im sorry i cant remember what they call it

Yes, it could be possible!!! There is a very rare condition in which a woman has two uterus and sometimes even two sets of ovaried and faloppian tubes.
Class III: Uterus didelphys, also uterus didelphis (double uterus).
Both Mullerian ducts develop but fail to fuse, thus the patient has a "double uterus". This may be a condition with a double cervix and a vaginal partition (v.i.), or the lower Mullerian system fused into its unpaired condition. See Triplet-birth with Uterus didelphys for a case of a woman having spontaneous birth in both wombs with twins. (from wikipedia)
Otherwise, you can still ovulate in the first month or max two, but afterwards you should not be ovulating anymore since the baby's hormones (HCG, what the HPT tests for) stops you from ovulating.
Good luck =0)

Yes, this is very possible. I had my period during the first 3 months of one of my pregnancies, I didn't even realize I was pregnant till the baby started to move. I had an Ultra Sound at 6 months into the pregnancy, guess who was pregnant.
I had my daughter C-section, that's when they discovered the other child. She was rushed into an incubator and stayed there for 3 months. Both are alive & well. They are not considered to be twins, because they were not conceived at the same time. This does happen. It is very rare. They tell people they are twins. They look like twins, but they are not.
I know the soap, you have been watching. I was wondering when someone was going to ask this question. There is a similar thing on One Life to Live, with Jess & Natalie.

Yes, some women have been known to have their period during the whole pregnancy. This is why, they are so surprised when they go into labor. They believe the old wives's tales about, no periods & being pregnant. But it does happen, often the flow is not as intense, but a sanitary napkin is necessary.
If a woman is ovulating in her 3rd month of the first pregnancy, then has a sexual encounter, it is possible for her to get pregnant at the 3rd month. I read several case studies, where the first child is delivered at home. Then five or six months later, she goes to the ER complaining of acute abdominal pains and it is discovered that she has another child. So they would be 6 months differences in their ages. And no they would not be considered twins.
But the human body does a lot of strange things and they happen at random intervals.

This is the first baby site that I have looked at as I am only 4 weeks and 4 days pregnant having previously experinced 2 miscarraiges I am a bit scared about looking at anything and reading anything that might get my mind working overtime as at the moment I have slight cramps which are apparantely normal?? Yea right! tell that to someone who has lost their baby..
Anyhow, I am shocked to have read that so many people are giving WRONG, damaging information out! My doctor sent me for an emergancy scan 2 days ago as when I cough I get a sharp pain in the low left side of my tummy and taking the above in to account she felt this was the best thing for me (and I was over the moon just to be able to possibly have a scan picture as I never did with my last two pregnancies) Guess what all you people.. My pain was because I was ovulating and an egg had released in to my tube (left side) which you could clearly see on the screen! Amazing!!!! I came away with a incy wincy dark spot on a scan picture that they told me was my baby!
Please be sure you are 100% correct when giving advice, it is a scary world pregnancy without feeling confused.
Only 8 months to go and giving birth before I can relax!
