Pregnancy acne
Introduction
Acne is a skin problem that the extant woman’s are facing nowadays. Due to the skin becoming very sensitive during the pregnancy period the development of the aches is a very common process. The situation may be a little more worst if the expectant mother already suffers from adult acnes that mainly occur during the hormonal changes during the puberty.
Treatments for pregnancy acne:
It is always advisable for the expectant mother to consult the doctor before indulging into any of the treatments for the acnes. Based on the suggestion of the doctor the mother should go through the various treatments. There are many drugs that are available in the market these days namely Accutane, Retin-A and Tetracycline. The use of all the above drugs should be strictly as prescribed by the doctor as any overdose can affect the baby.
Accutane: This is the best medicine that can be taken orally to treat the acne and are easily available in the form of pills or tablets. One thing to remember while using this medicine is that the use of these medicines can lead to miscarriages and even to infant death during the pregnancy. Accutane is also known as Isotretinoin.
Retin-A: Also known as Tretinoin is comes in the form of a cream that can be applied on the affected area and is only for the external use. It helps in the reduction of the acnes a lot but it should also be used under the supervision of a dermatologist.
Tetracycline: It is an antibiotic drug that can be used for the treatment of the acnes as well as the respiratory infections. The use of the drug should be under the supervision of a doctor as it can affect the bone growth of the infant or even discoloration of the teeth.
Controlling acne:
The use of the various medications and treatments may have a very ill affect on the infant thus; the best way of treating the acnes is to not let them develop. Controlling the acnes is a little tuff but with a regular care their development can be stopped. The best thing to do is to keep the face clean at the time during the day. It can be easily done by washing it three to four times in the day with an oil-free mild cleanser. The thing to be taken care in the process of cleaning the face is that it should not be overdone as it can wash away all the oil that the skin produces and thus, leaving it with more pores that will produce more oil. The cleansing process should be continued with the rinsing of the face with lukewarm water. Some of the other things to be done to control the acnes are:
Taking a lot of water that will help the skin and the body to be hydrated and moisturized that will reduce the affects of the acnes. Special care should be taken not to touch the acnes as it can help the bacteria to spread which could lead to even more pimples.
