Pregnancy Complications
Everyone wishes for a healthy and risk free pregnancy but it is not always so. Pregnancy for a woman is like not the birth of the baby it is also her second birth. Although the body is well equipped with mechanisms to protect the baby but the mother at times can be vulnerable to certain risks and can suffer a lot. Even if the mother has given births to babies, each pregnancy is always a special one.
Complications in the early stage of pregnancy
When the mother announces that she is pregnant, she must start taking precautions by consulting regularly with the physician. The ultrasound test done by the doctor help to detect any complication in the early stage of the natural development of the fetus. There are two types of early pregnancy complications like miscarriages and ectopic pregnancy. In miscarriages, the cervix breaks open and there is intense bleeding and pain for the mother. In other cases the baby may die before birth and all the mother can do is to wait for the miscarriage or undergo D and C. Miscarriages may also happen due to infection, blood clotting, habits like smoking, alcohol consumption or high consumption of caffeine, structural defects in the body also are cited as the reason for miscarriages. Ectopic complication is another risky early pregnancy complication. In this kind of complication the egg is placed outside the womb and fertilizes as a result the fetus grows either in the fallopian tube or in the ovary. Surgical intervention is then the option otherwise the tubes may rupture and internal bleeding takes place. This is a life threatening complication and so care must be taken.
Ectopic pregnancy is also caused by endometriosis or other female reproductive abnormalities.
Pregnancy Complication in Overage
When women remain pregnant after the age of thirty the risk of complications grow by many counts. The defects in the baby also tend to be higher than others. As the age of the mother is higher, the complications arising out of high blood pressure and diabetes take their toll on pregnancy. However, the early detection of such complications can ensure a healthy pregnancy for women over the age of thirty-five.
High Risk Pregnancy
In the high-risk pregnancy, the chances of complications arising are high. If the mother is carrying more than one baby, if the mother is overage, or is suffering from chronic disease like diabetes then she can have the high-risk pregnancy. The high-risk pregnancy has to be closely watched until the birth of the baby.
Multiple Pregnancies
When the mother is carrying more than one baby, she is prone to complications arising out of the two fetuses. Most of the twins born prematurely and carry very low birth weight. The organs also tend to be underdeveloped in twins.
