Third Trimester

Trimester can be defined as three months of the pregnancy stage. Generally the normal pregnancy is said to be of nine months which is 36 weeks but actually the average pregnancy period is 40 weeks. These trimesters are divided into three stages such as the beginning, middle and the last trimester. These three stages define the pregnancy cycles which occurs during that period. Most commonly the first trimester consists of first 14 weeks, the second trimester consists of the next 14 weeks and the third trimester consists of the last 12 weeks. During these three trimesters a pregnant women goes under certain physical and mental changes.

Third Trimester

Third Trimester is the third and the last stage of pregnancy. This stage starts from the 29th week of the pregnancy period. During this stage the women starts gaining excess weight and also experiences difficulty in breathing. She also experiences difficulty while moving and walking and even feels certain amount of stress in the heart. As the baby is growing in this stage the sleeping patterns of the baby also develops and this can also create some amount of pain in the women’s womb. She can also experience several other pains such as heart burn, trouble while sleeping, shortness of breath, hiatal hernias, constipation, frequent urination and edema in legs & ankles. During this stage women should try to lower their stress by performing certain exercises like yoga which helps in reducing stress. Also the pregnant women should relax as much as she can which is beneficial for her in reducing excess pain.

Yoga during Third Trimester

In the stage of third trimester women may feel difficulty while performing their regular yoga exercises. They also feel difficulty in performing their routine work at home as well such as climbing the stairs, turning over the bed etc. So, in this condition it is important for the women to perform prenatal yoga and gentle yoga stretches and postures. One thing pregnant women must keep in mind that they should not allow them selves to feel stressed and tired while performing these yoga postures. Try it doing with easy rather than stressing your selves. It is also recommended to have a regular check up with the doctor before starting any exercises. Some of the important postures of yoga which are useful during the third trimester are Triangle, Pigeon, Warrior II and the Knee to Ankle postures. All these postures are Cat Cow positions which help in preparing the baby for birth. One major issue to consider while performing yoga exercises during pregnancy is to control the breath. Yoga is one of the best exercises which help with many phases of life which include weight loss, reducing stress, breath control, clarity of mind and improving health. With some of the postures of yoga which are specially designed for pregnancy can help pregnant women to have a safer and easier birth.
